Hatton is a working farm village set in the lovely Warwickshire countryside with plenty to see and do. The farm itself is part of Hatton World and deserves a whole day to explore this gem in the Heart of England.
The tiny village of Hatton is signposted very well and is the site of 21 locks on the Grand Union Canal and is the home of Hatton Country World. Within Hatton Country World is Hatton Farm Village and this is where the real attraction for kids lies.
Although there is a good adventure playground full of trampolines, slides and climbing frames, the farm-related activities are more fun and much more popular – especially with children aged between three and eight and for whom the farm had in mind when the activities were thought about.
Animals in Hatton Farm Village
Most of the activities involve animals, whether they’re petting baby rabbits, feeding reindeer or riding ponies, they’ll have a great time! The guinea pigs have their own miniature village and bigger pigs have a Pig Palace with a royal mud wallow and throne made of straw! There are competitions to watch, testing the sporting prowess of the animals – choose from Sheepstakes sheep races, Daft Duck Trials and ferret racing! There’s also a rare breed conservation programme that my interest older children.
Other Activities in Hatton Farm Village
Children can operate special smaller-sized mechanical diggers in a giant Build and Play sandpit, play Frisbee golf, pan for gold in the stream or ride Tristan the Runaway Tractor. There are also all the usual adventure playground activities too.
The Hatton Experience
Hatton World offers so much more than the farm, although the farm is bound to be the favourite of the day. You can visit Hatton Shopping Village and explore over 20 boutique shops with treasures you won’t find on the High Street. The shops are carved from Victorian farmyard buildings and so make for a very pleasant setting for an hour or so of browsing. Hatton Country Walks are also a very popular way of burning off some of that excess energy – there are delightful circular walks to discover across the Hatton Estate, incorporating the famous Hatton Locks.
