Come and celebrate human versatility at The Centre For Life in the North East of England in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Journey through the stars, explore mythical beasts and experience a journey through a derelict mineshaft!
Revolutionary and Unique
The Centre is a revolutionary and unique new kind of museum where you might have difficulty dragging the children away at the end of your visit. It celebrates the whole spectrum of human versatility and is dedicated to real science and, most of all, to involving children in the magic of scientific surprise. There are moving models of dinosaurs and mythical beasts and displays that explain evolutionary processes.
The Plantetarium, or The Dome as it’s also known, screens traditional and wonderful planetarium shows to its awestruck audiences but also has the capabilities of 2D and 3D submersive cinematic experiences too – this means you get the feeling of being completely immersed in the action on screen!
Zoom through the planets on the Centre’s Motion Ride! Lasting about ten minutes, you’ll be strapped in to your seat to feel the bumps and bounces of this state-of-the-art simulator. There’ll be much laughter and a few surprises too. Check the website (see further information below) for height and other restrictions for this attraction, just to avoid any disappointment on the day. Solar Coaster is one example of the shows that screen on this awesome part of your day out but it changes each year so if you’ve been before you’ll have a new experience when you come back next time and come back you will!
Skating at Life
Every winter, the Centre hosts an awesome ice skating rink in Times Square, right outside the Life Centre itself. For a small additional fee you can buy a combination ticket enabling you to enter the Centre and enjoy ice skating with your family…even more delightful after the sun sets and the twinkly lights come on. There are other festive events for families to enjoy so be sure to check out the Centre’s website (see further information below) when planning your visit to this very special place.
