Take your little monkeys out for the day at Go Ape! in Scotland’s Aberfoyle. The fabulous forest scenery provides a stunning back drop for the six-zone course – and what a course!
The course will take around three hours to complete and involves a series of rope ladders, Tarzan swings, bridges, trapezes, stirrup crossings and zip wires – all taking place 40ft or more above the tree tops. This high wire forest adventure is a great active day out for the family – children must be over 10 years to get involved while under 18s, or Baboons as they are affectionately referred to by the team must be accompanied by adults (Gorillas).
Every participant has to complete the safety course first and practice using the safety harnesses, karabiners and pulleys provided by Go Ape. The team make you feel safe and make sure you understand how the equipment works before guiding you round the course. At several points “up there” you’ll have the choice of an easy or hard route…just to test the bravery of your family even more!
Feet on the Ground
For non-participants who decide to sit out the Go Ape experience or if you want to extend your day after your adventure then the David Marshall Lodge Visitor Centre offers some less challenging activities. There’s a great outdoor play zone for the smaller children, with a cafe and a shop. The picnic area also offers fabulous views of the surrounding countryside known as Trossachs for its wooden glens, braes and lochs.
Highlight of the Day
Whizz down Britain’s longest zip wire that’s 1400ft in length – a seriously exhilarating experience!
