Cotswold Country Park and Beach

Cotswold Country Park and Beach is the ideal setting for an active and fun filled day out with all the family. With so much to see and do there won’t be a minute wasted in this idyllic part of Britain!

Activities Galore

This is Britain’s largest water park and was formed from the extraction of sand and gravel; when pits reach the end of their working lives the pumps are turned off leaving the excavated sites to gradually fill with water, creating inland lakes which are in turn put to many uses. The Park offers everything you could want from a day in the open air – choose from lake-side walks, open-water swimming, snorkelling and even windsurfing.

Network of Paths

Much of the park is looked after by the Cotswold Water Park Society and there is free access to a network of way-marked paths for walkers and cyclists. There are lake-side walks, canal towpaths and the long distance Thames Path, all there for your enjoyment and exercise!

Nature Reserves

The same Society also owns and manages several nature reserves because the park supports large numbers of winterfowl and breeding bird life, there are also colonies of otters and water voles.

Fun by the hour

Bike and boat hire is very popular throughout the park and is a fun addition to your day out. Choose from pedal or row boats and have your own water adventure! You’ll find the boats on the southern side of the lake where you can also appreciate the beauty of the park from this stunning vantage point. Hiring bikes is easy and there are routes to suit all abilities. Child seats, helmets and maps are readily available from the visitor centre.

Head4Heights is an aerial adventure centre and gives you and your family the chance to swing through the trees like Tarzan and Jane! Take part in the Totem Pole Challenge, experience the Free Fall and take the Leap of Love.

Adventure Playground

The Park boasts two fantastic adventure playgrounds, if you have any energy left over! The toddler’s play area has its own beach and paddling area so that under 5s can play safely. There are also diggers, sandpits, climbing areas and slides to enjoy – all conveniently situated beside the lakeside coffee shop.

Highlight of the Day

An exhilarating fresh water swim in the open air.

We spent the whole day here and it was fantastic. Something for everyone even a swimming area for the dog! The only negative I would say is that the toilets were a little worn and not as clean as they could have been. There was a note stating they were cleaned at intervals but I don’t think that was the case today. I wouldn’t want to use them on a really busy day if that if the normal standard.
